MEET MAUREEN
Hello! My name is Maureen Dorothy Kahl, and I was raised in Lakewood, Colorado near the gorgeous Rocky Mountains and Flat Irons. There is nothing more breathtaking than the sunsets over the Rockies, thus what my paintings portray. I currently reside in Fort Morgan, Colorado, 80 miles from my beloved mountains. I was compelled by this marvelous state I live in to write three books, which are rich in Colorado's heritage. I have hiked and biked in the Rockies many times over the years, and I have camped until my daughter no longer liked camping. The sensation that those adventures raised is real, and those innermost feelings pour onto the pages of my three books, The Bracelet, The Touchstone, and The Promise, a series that plays out in the stunning places I have held to my heart. The characters in my trilogy find love, peace, healing, and rapture in the shadows of the mountains. The glorious progression of love, the heartfelt moments, play into the
characters finding one another and themselves. Tragedies and triumphs fill the hearts of my books, and hopefully that too transpires into love in those who read the trilogy.
Time permitting, I have written poetry over the years from the age of 8. I wrote my first poem regarding the CV- Ranch where we rode our horses and garnered what the trail rides brought to my sister's and my life. When I was in Junior High, our family moved to Louisville, Colorado. From our vantage point, we could easily see the Flatirons that are a backdrop to Boulder, Colorado. I wrote a poem in 7th grade, Ode to a Clock, and it was featured in The Boulder Camera newspaper. I have written poems about the Viet Nam war and the suffering spewed there and many other places. I wrote a poem regarding my Father's disregard for me and that he never danced with me. I have written poems of love as well.
When my 3 children came along. I focused fully on them. I never missed an event in which they participated.
